Quality Of Life of Children with Thalassemia in Indonesia: Review

Background: Thalassemia is an inherited disorder of hemoglobin (Hb) synthesis. Treatment thalassemia has not yet reached the level cure. Globally, management symptomatic in form lifelong blood transfusions. Data on children with major Indonesia been widely published. However, various studies clearly showed growth and development disorders behavior that greatly affected quality life thalassemia. Blood transfusions use drugs often lead to feelings boredom treatment, mention physical changes feeling being different from relatives or friends will cause inferiority. They drop out school do find work, which causes highly severe psychosocial effects. Objective: This paper aims provide overview so it can be used as a reference providing appropriate regarding Methods: literature search google scholar pubmed for complete publications 2010-2020 keywords "quality life", "thalassemia children," "Indonesia”. Result: There were six research articles related this search. Indonesia's average ranged 50% 67.2%.Conclusion: Of four domains assessed, function had lowest average, followed by emotional, social function. Child health services need optimize children's functional abilities life.
